Opinions About Education
I think that over time the government has helped everyone get a better education and that is a good thing. It started with everyone required to go to school. Over time African Americans receive more opportunities for a better education, that is a good thing because it helps them become equal and have a better chance of success in life. Later on there were colleges for African Americans opening to help them. The first public community college opened and the Supreme Court ruled that Chinese immigrants have the right to education as well. All of this is a good thing because it helps people succeed. Without African American protest I don’t think that they would have got all the rights they have today, or at least not until later on. This shows when the first Civil Rights act was ruled Unconstitutional in 1883, but African American have full rights today which just shows it couldn’t have been done without the freedom of speech and protesting. Also if it wasn’t for competition all races wouldn’t have got to where they are today because without it there wouldn’t have been as many colleges as there are today. In 1900 when American university’s started promoting worldwide competition that helped people even more in the United States and everywhere else to work to their full potential so they could get to where they want in life. So I believe that all of the government actions and protests to help everyone get an equal education was a good thing.
Opinions About Mass Culture
Our interests and fads of ways of getting entertainment were ever changing like newspapers, to magazines, to radio. As we want more technology for pleasure, we also find other ways to use the same technology for military or job uses. In this time period the big thing with newspaper, magazines, and radio was the communication. By the time of radio people could hear the President speak live or tune in for a boxing match. -Along with technology the 1920s had many sport “heroes” such as Andrew “Rube” Foster, Babe Ruth and Helen Wills. Unknown athletes who rose up to be known by the country were praised for keeping the American spirit alive, the idea of being able to rise from nothing to great fortune. -Charles A. Lindbergh was brought to fame and fortune by flying crossed the Atlantic without stoping in 1927. He made American fans, French fans, and 25,000 dollars for making the trip and also getting to meet the president of the time Calvin Coolidge. The first transcontinental airmail service left ground with bags full of mail in 1920. Amelia Earhart was the first woman to make it crossed the atlantic in 15 hours setting the record for 1932. -In the 1920s people urged to see plays and movies. By the 1930’s people would lose themselves in the drama, comedy, and romance of movies. -The 1920’s also brought new, fresh, and insightful writings in which might of made it the richest era for literacy in the United States. Overall this era was filled with many improvements and I believe it was a giant turning point for the U.S.
